Each year the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra offers talented young musicians the opportunity to perform fine orchestral literature and further develop their musical talents through participation in the orchestra’s long-standing Youth Orchestra programs. Chosen through competitive audition, the students in the Dayton Philharmonic Junior String Orchestra and the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra hail from 27 different schools throughout the greater Dayton area and surrounding communities.
Junior String Orchestra

This orchestra was established to provide an exceptional musical experience for talented young string students throughout the greater Dayton area. The musicians perform two concerts a year.

Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

The best of the Miami Valley make up this premier orchestra of young people. Members study challenging orchestral music, work with professional musicians, and perform three concerts a year. Founded in 1937, the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is one of the oldest youth orchestras in the United States.
