Young People's Concerts

Programs

It’s one of the DPO’s longest-standing traditions. These concerts are planned to integrate with classroom curriculum. Teachers receive a study guide and a CD of concert excerpts. At no charge, docents (if available) come to your school to prepare students for the concert.

Musical Postcards From America
A musical journey featuring our rich American Culture, this concert is filled with musical postcards from a country of natural beauty, innovators and immigrants. In addition, students will have the opportunity to hear our high school concerto competition winner perform with the DPO.
Conductor:
Patrick Reynolds
Curriculum Connections: Language Arts, Social Studies

Kaleidoscope Around the World
Since the 19th century, orchestral music has been influenced by the traditional music of many different cultures. Composers borrow from other cultures and fuse that music into their own style. This concert will illustrate various folk music styles and will show how they have become a part of traditional orchestra music.
Conductor:
Neal Gittleman
